For many, having access to clean drinking water is a privilege and woman and kids have to walk long distances to a well in other villages. The water is heavy to carry and the journey can be very dangerous. There are a minority of Hindu's that have their own water filter systems and they are able to sell clean water for drinking, and therefore they carry money and power in villages. The lowest price of this clean water is often still too high for the majority of people in the lower class and as a result, many kids and elderly die during the summer from dirty water they have drunk from dirty, sewage filled ponds. Some Hindu's construct wells on their own property and therefore access to the well is only for themselves.
Our method is to pray to God to show us the right village and then begin talks with the mayor of that village. It is important the mayor is willing to do something for the village and then collectively the citizens, civil administration and SINAI collect money and instruct a well company to drill. We work in cooperation with the local pastor and find a location next to the Church so that the pastor can be in touch with the people. EVERYONE has access to the well, it doesn't matter what class or religion. One well provides clean drinking water for a few thousand people, and the result is new hope for the whole village. This act shows many people the unconditional love of Christ, who has mercy and sees the need of the people.
